Shelby American Racing Team Shirt VINTAGE Cobra GT40 Bowler’s Mechanics style

Shelby American Racing Team Shirt VINTAGE Cobra GT40 Bowler’s Mechanics style
A vintage Shelby American Racing Team Shirt
Made by Bowler’s Shirt & Uniform Company in Los Angeles.

2 patches on the front, one being the Carroll Shelby “CS” logo.
On the back: “COBRA” is embroidered.

Button-down collar, cuffed sleeves, un-lined collar, tuck-in style shirt.

I don’t know exactly when this shirt was made, but Bowler’s was the original exclusive supplier to Shelby American of their official racing team shirts from 1964 through 1967, and possibly for part of the 70’s.

The fabric is thick cotton or gabardine.

Oddly there are two size tags on this shirt. One is on the actual Bowler’s tag. It says XS. The other is a separate tag that says M

The dimensions of the shirt:
Pit to pit: 21 1/4 inches
Shoulder to front hemline: 29 1/4 inches

In nice condition. No holes, and all the buttons are there. There is some pulling of the fabric around the Shelby patch: I assume that the shirt was washed and the patch shrank a little while the shirt didn’t. There is a light amount of “pilling” here and there, but this could be fixed easily with a lint shaver. The left white band seems a bit darker in one area (this could be due to the pilling, or perhaps the fabric is a bit thinner in that area, or maybe it’s just a tad dirty). There is also a very small stain on that same white band. Also there are some loose threads here and there, around the button holes for example, but these can be snipped off. The embroidering of the “A” in “Cobra” is unraveling a little bit. See pic.
